In February 7th 2018 "The Taming of a Demagogue," Ross Douthat from the New York Times implies that the election of president is a incorruptible act, that requires party elites to resist and exclude figures who are ethically and temperamentally unit for the job. Douthat list the flaws of both president Donald Trump, and the Republican Party, criticizing the false promises that lured many Trump supporters, and explaining the problems of Trump's one year presidency. Douthat article suggest that we should blame the Republican party for choosing such a incapable figure for president in order to inform the audience of the failed Trump presidency. The audience consist of Americans who are worried for the future of this country and; the tone towards "danger" is one of warning, and fear. Donald Trump's presidency has been disastrous, Douthat separates his article into two section's. The Republican's false promise and consequences, and the support of Trump's presidency. Douthat states that the main argument people have or more precisely "liberals" is that they are "Urging a Boycott of the G.O.P." since the Republican party has become a "danger" to the integrity and rule of law of democracy. As a conservative who Trump, he attacked the Republican party for nominating him, and Douthat argued that if he were nominated he could " reasonably be removed from office for unfitness." Douthat was sure that Donald Trump would never succeed as president. He describes the G.O.P. as a "broken vehicle for policy making." Compares the G.O.P. as a unreliable broken vehicle. Douthat then goes into describing Trump supporters as "Atlantic-reading whole Foods-shopping, Trump skeptical Republican." addressing that their elected representative's promise to constrain the president's actions is actually kept. Douthat list the argument of many "Trump-skeptical Republicans" to vote against every single G.O.P. politician on principle. This article has a tone of candid, and cautionary."If many House Republican are working to enable Trump's authoritarian instincts while various Senate Republicans work to constrain them."
